558 miles, 8.5 hrs on the road, NIke has finally made it for his overnight. Tomorrow he flies another 400 miles to his rescue, K9 Enrichment Initiative Rescue. He will be a very well traveled boy by the end of Saturday. I might mention that because of all our wonderful transport drivers we were only, approx, 20 minutes later than our estimated 5:10 pm arrival time. That’s pretty amazing!! Thank you all for your help. You truly built a bridge for Nike to begin his best life.

Jeanne Travers, Transport Coordinator

Nike

Long before Nike made that long trek on the ground and in the air, we fell in love with him back on January 27th, when his shelter posted asking if rescue or adopter could help this amazing puppy dog with the crazy legs.

If you have followed K9 Enrichment Initiative for awhile you know what a “K9EI dog” looks like. They generally have some issues going on whether physically or emotionally, but they have the look of a dog whose not ready to give up just yet in their eyes.

We do not know what the future holds for Nike as we begin seeking guidance from orthopedic surgeons and physical rehabilitation vets. These folks will lay it on the line and tell us whether he has a chance at a quality life and if so, how we go about making that happen for the little guy.

For now Nike had two fun filled days of meeting new people, checking out the country’s scenery and taking to the skies to arrive safely. He moved into his foster home in Chicago and slept like a rock through the early evening to morning after traveling another 60 minutes in the car.

Nike has arrived and now we need to raise funds. We are looking to raise $1000 for his initial radiographs, and exams. When we know what’s next for him, we will post estimates for care and ask for donations.

Thank you to the fine folks at Haseya’s New Beginning Rescue in Rayne, Louisiana, Crowley Veterinary for the care they provided for the little man with a whole lot of love, and the drivers, 4 of them, who took time out of their day and donated their fuel to move Nike along the roadways heading to us, thank you to Leslie Kimes Hall of the Bootheal Express for putting him up for the night arranging drivers to get him to the airport on time and thank you to Bark4Compassion for providing his flight, to Christine Pothoff for meeting the plan and bringing him to his foster family.

Huge shout out to Mr. and Mrs. Losoff for opening their home and hearts to Sir Nike Sinclair as his foster care parents. They are up for the challenge and are itching to get started with surgery, therapy, whatever is needed to set Nike up for a quality life.

Last but never least, to our Executive Director/Founder, Cynthia Lynn Guzman for never giving up no matter the odds, setbacks or challenges.

Thank you to Cristy Gonzales and Sprout Gonzales for coming to meet Nike and his foster parents. Sprout you are the best ambassador for your tribe.
