Age: 15 months
Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier
Size: Medium Weight: 45 lbs
Likes: Climbing, jumping, running, rolling about in the grass. Delilah is an agility champion in waiting. She can easily jump from a standing position over a 4′ counter. She has proved it several times at the veterinary hospital, much to everyone’s surprise. Delilah is high energy, loves to train and have a purpose in her life. A great working dog, along with a lovable companion. Delilah does need to be the only dog in the home right now. She is crate-trained, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped and spayed.
History: Delilah was owner surrender to Chicago Animal Control on December 2. 2016, she was known as Nala at the shelter. Her prior owner described her as nippy and having no training. They had gotten her from a previous owner at 2 months old and was surrendering her at 1 year old. Delilah joined the KEI family on January 30th having surpassed her kill date.
She was set to die on January 27th, but gained a reprieve when we promised to return that upcoming Monday to evaluate her. What we saw when we met her was nothing short of inspiring. She had a way about her that told us she had miles to go. Not to mention the athletic gifts within her. Delilah has the moves of Walter Payton, the jumping skills of Edwin Moses and the speed of Usin Bolt.
She didn’t just walk out of CACC, she ran. This girl is alive and loves life, every moment of every day.
MAY 2017: Delilah is currently in boarding waiting for a foster angel to find their way to our sweet girl. She is attending weekly training sessions as she learns the best ways to show off her gifts. This girl is an athletic spirit that enjoys running and playing as well as loving. She would do very well in an agility class once her mind can rest. Boarding saved her life but a home will soothe her soul. Delilah is looking for a guide, a foster to show her the way and to help continue training in the hopes that a family will see all the ways she glows. Please consider Delilah today. Please note: Delilah does need to be the only dog in the home.
